The tell
Pistachio to yellow-green, usually filling a seam or scattered through basalt rather than forming the whole stone. It does not have the segmented turtleback of a greenstone.
If you find green in the Keweenaw, epidote is by far the likeliest answer. Greenstone is the rare one and it looks nothing like this under a tilt.

Every stone on this chart is drawn and kiss-cut at three inches. The rarer the stone, the fewer exist: only 750 epidote will ever be printed, then the run is retired.
